WMI’s promotion of incentive-driven conservation was controversial in the 1970’s, but with crocodiles, led to a complete recover of the wild population with the support of local people. Today sustainable use is a mainstream conservation strategy, generating economic benefits for people. WMI has published over 60 papers on sustainable use, has contribute to the global debate, and has contributed to international resolution and policies adopted by government and intergovernmental bodies.
