MAJOR PROJECTS

Projects WMI has been involved in

  • Using Wildlife

WMI’s promotion of incentive-driven conservation was controversial in the 1970’s, but with crocodiles, led to a complete recover of the wild population with the support of local people. Today sustainable use is a mainstream conservation strategy, generating economic benefits for people.

  • Cuban Sea Turtles

WMI were lead consultants for over a decade in the refinement of Cuba’s Hawksbill Turtle harvest program, improving sustainability, evidence-based management and research.

  • Crocodylus Park

WMI constructed Crocodylus Park, and has operated it successfully, as one of the most significant tourist attractions and wildlife education venues in the Northern Territory, for 22 years.

  • Biopolotics

WMI is often engaged to assess situations where the costs and benefits of using a wildlife or environmental resource are in dispute, with polarised proponents and political sensitivities.
